About

Doorus Orchard Project was set up in 2004 with Heritage Council of Ireland funding. The half acre walled garden was planted up with over 50 heritage apple trees from the Irish Seed Savers Association - representing the West of Ireland apple collection - and other tree fruits such as Mulberrys , Medlars, Green Gages, Damsons, Peach and Plums. 

Doorus Orchard Project has a committee and is a subgroup of Kinvara Community Council

Whats in the garden?
  • A picninc area

  • A biodiversity garden

  • An extensive apple orchard of heritage Irish apples.

  • Lots of other tree fruits

  • A soft fruit area

  • Allotments

  • A gazebo with clay pizza oven

  • A perennial vegetable garden

  • Bee hives

  • Large and small growing tunnels

  • An opaic tunnel as a covered in work space

Get Involved
  • Would you like to volunteer at the orchard? Come along Monday mornings from 10 to 12, with work gloves, a rain jacket a snack and a flask of something hot, and join our group of gardening volunteers!

  • Join the committee and help keep the show on the road!

  • Carpenters, artists, musicians, it's not just for gardeners!! There's huge potential for all sorts of actrivities to tke place in the community green space.
